Two male and female students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka were on Sunday, February 20, 2022 evening found dead at a private Hostel in the school.
A source close to the institution said the room number one of the William’s Lodge was forced open following heavy stench oozing out from it.
The source said due to the level of decay which caused the heavy stench the duo might have died some days ago without their neighbours being aware.
The cause of the death was not clear but some believe there might have been physical brawl between the duo which led to their death.
Another source also said probable cause of their death was that the boy in the course of their fight might have strangulated the girl believed to be his friend and realising that the girl was dead, took his own life.
According to Police report, the female, Adaeze’s parents had been calling her phone for days without any response. In the process they became agitated and reported to the Police. When they in company of security operatives went to her lodge to check on her, they found her door tightly locked.
On forcing the door open, they found the two students lying dead in the room.
Speculation has it that the cause of their death could have been smoke from exhaust fume from light generating set.
